Jehoram of Judah
A king of Judah who married Athaliah, daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, and brought the northern dynasty's religion south with her. He secured the throne by killing all his brothers, lost Edom and Libnah to revolt, and received a letter of judgement from Elijah. Philistines and Arabs raided Jerusalem and carried off his sons and wives, leaving only the youngest. He died after a painful illness, aged forty, and the chronicler records the verdict of his people bleakly: he departed with no one's regret.
