Adam
The first man, formed from the dust of the ground, given the breath of life and set in the garden of Eden to work and keep it. He named the animals, received Eve as a companion made from his own side, and lived under a single prohibition. Persuaded by Eve, who had been persuaded by the serpent, he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; the pair were driven from the garden, and toil, pain and death entered human experience. Paul later set him against Christ as the two heads of humanity — 'as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive'.

Genesis 2:7 — Formed from the dust
