Peleg

A descendant of Shem in the line to Abraham, and the son of Eber. Genesis notes the meaning of his name — 'division' — because in his days the earth was divided, a remark generally read alongside the scattering of the peoples at Babel in the following chapter.

Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.
