Kedar
The second son of Ishmael, and ancestor of a powerful confederation of nomadic tribes of the northern Arabian desert. The prophets use the name for the wandering life and its wealth: the tents of Kedar in the Song of Solomon, the flocks and rams of Kedar traded to Tyre in Ezekiel, and Isaiah's oracle that within a year all the glory of Kedar would fail.
