Jairus
A ruler of the synagogue who fell at Jesus's feet and begged him to come and lay hands on his dying daughter. On the way the crowd pressed in and the woman with the haemorrhage touched his cloak, and while Jesus was still speaking word came that the girl had died. Told not to fear but only believe, Jairus brought him to the house, where Jesus put out the mourners, took the child's hand and said 'Talitha cumi' — little girl, arise.
