A Midianite woman, daughter of a tribal chief, brought into the camp by an Israelite man in full view of Moses and the weeping assembly at the height of the apostasy at Peor. Phinehas the priest followed the pair into the tent and ran them both through with a spear, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
