Asshur
A son of Shem in the table of nations, and the name from which Assyria is traced. Genesis records that from the land of Shinar Asshur went out and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah and Resen — the cities of the empire that would later carry the northern kingdom of Israel into exile.
