Tarsus

City / town · Modern: Tarsus, Turkey · Cilicia

The chief city of Cilicia, a place of some learning and commerce, and the birthplace of Paul, who described himself as a citizen of no ordinary city. He returned here for a period after his conversion, until Barnabas fetched him to Antioch (Acts 21:39; 9:30; 11:25).
