Aksum
A kingdom and capital in the Ethiopian highlands, a major trading power of the early centuries AD. Ethiopian tradition connects the region with the queen of Sheba and, later, with the mission of Matthew; the Ethiopian eunuch baptised by Philip in Acts 8 served a queen of the neighbouring Nubian kingdom of Kush. Scripture itself does not name Aksum.
