Sosthenes
The ruler of the synagogue at Corinth who was seized and beaten in front of the judgement seat after Gallio dismissed the case against Paul — and Gallio paid no attention. A Sosthenes is named as co-sender of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, which has long suggested to readers that the man beaten in the forum later became a brother in the faith.
