Matthias

The disciple chosen to replace Judas Iscariot among the Twelve. Peter set the qualification: one of the men who had accompanied them the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among them, from John's baptism to the ascension, to become a witness of the resurrection. Two names were put forward, Matthias and Joseph called Barsabbas; the company prayed and cast lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. He is not named again in the New Testament.
